Overview
FamilyForge (“we,” “our,” or “the Service”) is committed to protecting your privacy and the privacy of your family. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
1. Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: Email address used for authentication
- Family information: Family name, member names, roles (parent/child/pet), labels, and profile photos
- Content you create: Routines, chores, calendar events, meal plans, shopping lists, recipes, lesson plans, countdowns, and other data you enter into the Service
- Preferences: Time format, weather zip code, notification settings, module configurations
Information Collected Automatically
- Device information: Device type, operating system, and platform (iOS, Android, or web)
- Push notification tokens: If you enable push notifications, we store your device token to deliver notifications
- Usage patterns: Which features you use and general interaction patterns (no keystroke logging or screen recording)
Information We Do NOT Collect
- Passwords (we use passwordless authentication)
- Location data (we only use your zip code for weather, which you provide voluntarily)
- Contacts or phone book data
- Browsing history outside the app
- Biometric data
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information solely to:
- Provide and operate the Service
- Authenticate your account
- Store and display your family’s data
- Send push notifications you’ve opted into
- Display weather based on your zip code
- Process subscription payments (via our payment provider)
- Send important account communications (security alerts, terms updates)
- Improve the Service based on aggregated, anonymized usage patterns
We do NOT use your information to:
- Sell or share your data with third parties for advertising
- Build advertising profiles
- Train AI models on your content
- Send unsolicited marketing emails
3. Data Storage and Security
- Hosting: Your data is stored on Supabase, hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure
- Encryption: All data in transit is encrypted using TLS 1.2+. Data at rest is encrypted using AES-256
- Isolation: Row-level security (RLS) ensures each family’s data is completely isolated from other families
- Authentication tokens: Stored in device secure storage (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore) on mobile devices
- File storage: Profile photos and lesson attachments are stored in Supabase Storage with family-scoped access controls
4. Children’s Privacy
FamilyForge is designed for families, including children. We take children’s privacy seriously:
- No child accounts: Children do not create accounts or provide information directly. Parents and guardians manage all family member profiles.
- No data collection from children: We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children under 13.
- Parental control: Parents control all data entered for child family members and can modify or delete it at any time.
- COPPA compliance: Our practices are designed to comply with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
If you believe we have inadvertently collected information from a child under 13 without parental consent, please contact us immediately at support@familyforgeapp.com.
5. Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services:

We do not sell your data to any third party. Third-party services are used only as described above to operate the Service.
6. Data Retention
- Active accounts: Your data is retained as long as your account is active.
- Canceled subscriptions: Data is retained for 90 days after cancellation to allow reactivation.
- Deleted accounts: When you request account deletion, all your data is permanently deleted within 30 days.
- Expired trials: Trial accounts that do not convert are retained for 90 days, then deleted.
7. Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data: View all data stored in your account through the app
- Correct your data: Edit any information in your account at any time
- Delete your data: Request complete deletion of your account and all associated data
- Export your data: Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Opt out of notifications: Disable push notifications at any time through Settings
- Withdraw consent: Stop using the Service and request data deletion

8. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)
If you are a California resident, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act:
- Right to know what personal information we collect and how it’s used
- Right to delete your personal information
- Right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell your data)
- Right to non-discrimination for exercising your privacy rights
9. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)
If you are in the European Economic Area, you have additional rights under the General Data Protection Regulation:
- Right to access, rectification, and erasure
- Right to restrict or object to processing
- Right to data portability
- Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority
Our legal basis for processing your data is:
- Contract performance: To provide the Service you signed up for
- Legitimate interest: To improve and secure the Service
- Consent: For optional features like push notifications and calendar sync
10. Cookies and Tracking
- The web version of FamilyForge uses essential cookies for authentication only
- We do not use advertising cookies or tracking pixels
- We do not use Google Analytics or similar tracking services
- We do not participate in cross-site tracking
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via:
- In-app notice
- Email notification (for significant changes)
Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
